House on Mango Street: Practice Writing Figurative Language

Simile and Metaphor Go to the __________________

Directions: in partners you will be given a place or event that you will need to describe, in detail, using only similes and metaphors. One partner will only speak in metaphors while the other speaks only in similes. examples need to be complete and appropriate. Each pair will present their "skit" to the class where their peers will need to attempt to guess what is being described. When completed, do the same exercise using imagery and personification.
